The Trance Event has been founded by Lau de Hoop (AKA Lawrence Hope) back in 2010, a little while after Lau started his projects first under the name DJ Lauwy. The idea was to showcase a few mixtapes through this brand. A few years later in 2012 it became the main brand to release all my mixes. The Trance Event YearMix was invented that year, but the 2012 year mix has been taken down due of lack of quality.
In 2013 things really started to begin shape. Lau started his radioshow The Trance Event Monthly, which was a monthly show with newest Trance tracks. The Trance Event Monthly’s first episode was uploaded to MixCloud in March 2013. There were a few items in the show like “In The Spotlight” for Lau his favorite track of that month, “The Oldie” which was a classic Trance track, to give a little throwback to the past of Trance. Every March Lau celebrated the anniversary of the show with a longer, special episode.
In March 2018 was the last episode of The Trance Event Monthly. Due of personal reasons Lau needed more time for himself. It was a special and long episode with a lot of classics, popular tunes and a guestmix by Fix ‘N Mix. The Trance Event Monthly lasted for 5 years.
Fast forward to 2019, by coincidence also in March, Lau wanted to take a next step with The Trance Event and started his own recordlabel called The Trance Event Records. Since then all tunes by Lau and his pseudonym Sunbeam were released under The Trance Event Records. The idea is to sign more artist to this label in the future, to give upcoming artists a platform to show and release their own music.
